We now have placements available for volunteer counsellors.

Please note that it is a genuine occupational qualification that a females takes on this roles, and the post is exempt under section 7 (2) (e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975

We have an exciting opportunity for qualified and student counsellors to join our team. Volunteers and students on placements play a vital role within our centre.

We have a small number of places we wish to fill, we get a lot of applications for placements and have included a guidance statement to help you make a strong application. Please complete all sections of the application.

All interviews for these vacancies will be held through the day of Wednesday 1st December 2021 in-person, this will involve group and individual activities. If you are unable to attend on this day please let us know if you would like us to contact you the next time we are recruiting in 2022 and we will keep you on the list for future contact.

The spaces open to counsellors at present are regular sessions on:

  • Mondays between 4pm – 8pm
  • Wednesdays between 3pm – 8pm
  • Fridays between 10am – 3pm

The intention is that you will work up to having 3 clients with an hour’s break, volunteering a total of 4 hours per week. We are only ever able to offer volunteer placements at the times stated above, so you will have to consider alternative placements if these are not suitable. You are also required to attend 1 hour group supervision once a month on a Wednesday evening (this is compulsory).

In return Well Women Centre offers:

  • Travel expenses – agreed amount per session
  • Line management support
  • Internal monthly group subversion
  • Wellbeing sessions
  • Ongoing CPD
  • Training opportunities funded by WWC
  • Paid work opportunities
  • Student counsellors: Following BACP guidelines, 2 of your clients will be in-person, the other will be via Teams or telephone. All sessions will be delivered from our building.
  • Qualified counsellors: We offer counsellors regular, free in house CPD, access to further funded IAPT training for suitable candidates; DIT, EMDR and PCEC and associate work on occasion.

If you wish to go ahead, please download and complete the attached application pack below (even if you have previously submitted one) and return to us at: governance@wellwomenwakefield.org.uk by Monday 15th November, 10am.

When completing the application form please be aware that the Well Women Centre values all experience, remember to include skills and experience gained from voluntary work and other aspects of life, including family and caring responsibilities.

As you will know, competition for these places is high and as a result we will not be able to interview everyone. If you have not been contacted to attend an interview by Friday 26th November, 4pm please assume that you have not been successful at this time. Again, you can contact us and ask to be contacted about future recruitments if you wish. Due to the large volume of applications for these placements we do not provide feedback.

We look forward to hearing from you.
